BBG Communications...on the Cellular
Who is Amos Edward Joel?
In 1972, he acquired patent 3,663,762. While at Bell Labs, Mr. Joel created a high capacity cellular mobile communication system arranged to establish and maintain continuity of communication paths to mobile stations passing from the coverage of one radio transmitter into the coverage of another radio transmitter.
A control center determines mobile station locations and enables a switching center to control dual access trunk circuitry to transfer an existing mobile station communication path from a formerly occupied cell to a new cell location. The switching center subsequently enables the dual access trunk to release the call connection to the formerly occupied cell.

Fiber Optic Cable
Fibre Optic Cables function as a light guide, guiding the light introduced at one end through to the other end.
The light source can either be a light-emitting diode or a laser.
The light source is pulsed on and then off and a receiver, which is light-sensitive, on the other end of the cable converts the pulses back into the digital ones and zeros.
Even laser light shining through fiber is subject to loss of strength.
The faster the laser fluctuates, the greater the dispersion.
In a situation where disperssion is to great, repeaters may be necessary to refresh the signal.
